MPress Records Signs Melissa Ferrick To Multi-Album Deal
MPress Records Signs Melissa Ferrick To Multi-Album Deal
New York, NY - New York City-based MPress Records has just inked a three-album deal with indie-maverick (and major label veteran) Melissa Ferrick. MPress, which internationally distributes albums by art-pop songstress Rachael Sage and award-winning songwriter Seth Glier, also produces the NEW ARRIVALS charity compilation series, and has presented artist showcases at such industry events as SXSW, CMJ & MIDEM.
Ferrick, an accomplished singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has shared stages with artists as wide-ranging as Bob Dylan, Paul Westerberg, Weezer and Ani DiFranco, performs over 150 shows a year - often for audiences of 7500 or more. Her extraordinarily passionate, grassroots fan base began when she opened for Morrissey in 1991, and has grown into one of the most loyal followings in recent indie memory.
MPress Records Artist Seth Glier Shapes Thoughtful Sophomore CD
Seth Glier's "The Next Right Thing" to be released Jan 11, 2011
Singer Seth Glier sculpts songs that seek to create an emotional connection, even as his dreams of a fragile Utopia remain unrealized, on his impressive sophomore CD, 'The Next Right Thing'.
The 21-year old phenom's distinctive falsetto has lead critics to praise him as having "the vocal prowess of a perfomer with a lifetime of singing experience" and as a "huge musical talent." College Music Journal (CMJ) describes Glier's music as "perfect vocals paired with immense instrumental talent on piano..." The upcoming CD, his second on MPress Records, lives up to the hype. The album draws inspiration from unlikely sources - from Michael J. Fox to organized religion, from a loved one's dementia, to witnessing a friend's shallow embrace of fame - all the while, the songs reflect Glier's maturity as a writer and his staunch idealism.
Continuing to support her latest CD, "Delancey Street" (which hit UK stores in September), Rachael is heading back across the Atlantic for 10 days of shows all over the UK! Joined by drummer Quinn, Sage will be traveling from London to Wales and up to Scotland, with several stops in between.
The tour starts on Wednesday, October 27 with a BMI showcase at The Cobden Club in London, and winds down on Friday, November 5 at The Winchester in Bournemouth. See the shows page for complete details!
