New York, NY: K’s Choice release their new full-length album, THE PHANTOM COWBOY, out Friday, September 18 on the New York-based label MPress Records, with digital and physical distribution via Independent Label Services, which is partnered with Caroline Distribution and Universal Music Group
The internationally successful Belgian brother/sister duo of Sarah and Gert Bettens -- has teamed up with Allmusic.com to offer fans an exclusive advance listen of thier album in its entirety beginning Sept. 16th; check it out now here.
K’s Choice--rounded out by Reinout RJ Swinnen (keyboards, backing vocals), Tom Lodewyckx (guitar), Bart Van Lierde (bass) and Wim Van Der Westen (drums)--teamed up with producer Alain Johannes(Queens of the Stone Age, Jimmy Eat World, Chris Cornell) to deliver the most honest, gritty, straight-ahead rock album of their career.
"This record had to have raw power and had to be fun from the first minute to the last...not too much mushiness and not too much second guessing," Sarah explains. "We recorded it the way we wrote it: fast, focused and unapologetic."
Gert goes on to say, “While writing, we just never stopped picturing ourselves playing the songs live, and the potential reaction of the people there. It’s probably less introspective that way compared to other K’s albums, and surely more linear; whereas we used to switch between heavier, poppy and an intimate folk-like song easily in the past, this is a rock album from the first song to the last.”
Leading up to the release of THE PHANTOM COWBOY, several tracks and videos were unveiled. A music video for the album’s first single “Private Revolution” was made available worldwide via Vevo; watch the music video for the commanding track here. Yahoo! Music was the first to debut a music video for the follow-up focus track “Bag Full Of Concrete” shot by Sarah herself on a GoPro camera; watch it here. Additionally, AfterEllen.com was the first to reveal the track “Woman,” PureVolume.com posted an exclusive stream of “Gimme Real” and ElmoreMagazine.com shared and advance listen of “Come Alive.”
The band spent the summer performing at several music festivals across Europe, and recently announced a U.S. show as part of CMJ Music Marathon week Friday, October 16 at The Cutting Room in New York City. They’ll share the bill with their MPress Records labelmates A Fragile Tomorrow, Rachael Sage and Matt Nakoa. CMJ badge holders get in free but must RSVP here. Tickets are on sale now for $10 adv. ($12 door), 21+. More U.S. dates are anticipated for 2016.
