MPress Records' Charity CD 'New Arrivals Vol. 5' Gets CD Release Concert/Party, 1/11/14, at Laurie Beechman Theatre
As Featured on NY-1 TV, Manhattan-Based Label Continues to Raise Funds and
Awareness for Hurricane Sandy Relief Organizations
New York, NY – MPress Records will celebrate the physical release of their charity album ‘New Arrivals Vol. 5: Artists For Hurricane Sandy Relief’ with a January 11, 2014 concert/CD release party at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC. The event will feature Rachael Sage & The Sequins as well as other artists who have appeared in the 'New Arrivals' series, including Gregory Douglass and Andy Mac; special guest Trevor Exter will also make a rare solo appearance.
As recently featured on NY-1 News, ‘NAV5’ is a charity album timed to the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. 100% of the proceeds from the 20-song compilation CD will benefit the following charitable organizations in several communities affected by Hurricane Sandy: The Red Hook Initiative (Brooklyn), Project Hospitality Staten Island Hurricane Relief Fund (Staten Island) and Graybeards (The Rockaways).
The CD, which got its MPress digital release in October, showcases a strong line-up of established and emerging performers, and includes songs from Paula Cole, Lucius, Ari Hest, Rachael Sage, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Antigone Rising, UK’s Polly Paulusma & Karima Francis and many more. And, for the first time ever, a NAV album features the contributions of several international artists, joining together to support this NY-centric cause.

New Arrivals project founder and MPress Records flagship artist Rachael Sage knew immediately following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy that she wanted to help. In December 2012 she donated all of the proceeds from her widely covered holiday show at Joe’s Pub in NYC to the same three organizations that will now benefit from this compilation. Having experienced Sandy first-hand, Sage recalls “I was without power and heat for five days and really had nowhere else to go so I just stuck it out. I was very lucky though to have only had such a minor inconvenience…All of us at MPress know so many people who were really hit hard by all of it, and who are still struggling.”
The New Arrivals charity compilation series continues to showcase both established and indie artists. Launched in 2006 by Sage, each CD has benefitted a different charity: Volume 1 benefitted Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief, Volume 2 benefitted World Hunger Year, Volume 3 benefitted NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association,) and Volume 4 benefitted The National Network For Youth.
