Sage To Tour UK With Downton Abbey's
Elizabeth McGovern In Support Of
"Haunted By You"

Rachael Sage Announces UK Tour with McGovern's band Sadie & The Hotheads in support of UK/Ireland Release

The unparalleled musicianship of award winning US singer, songwriter and producer Rachael Sage returns to the UK as she releases her milestone 10th album "Haunted By You", on February 4, 2013. The release will be supported by a live tour of the UK with Sadie and the Hotheads throughout February; a third single, “California”, will be released to UK radio on February 25th.

"Haunted By You" is a 13-track song-cycle of passion and heartbreak. Penned by Sage primarily on a 1966 Martin acoustic which she inherited from an ex, it’s the prolific pianist’s first experiment with guitar composition. "I pushed myself to pick up a guitar to write this record because I was scared of it and I took that as a cue. I gave myself a pass to try something brand new and make mistakes that would hopefully yield something more visceral.”

For Sage - who is also a poet, actor and visual artist, as well as a longtime record label owner (she founded MPress Records a decade ago) - music has always been her primary form of self-expression and "Haunted By You" is the expressive result of the demise of a four year relationship. Alone, reflecting on her break-up, Rachael discovered herself to be suddenly prolific. "California", "The Sequin Song" and "Confession" expose a raw, vulnerable side to the singer, who found herself reckoning with her newfound freedom as well as the inevitable loneliness that follows.

"Invisible Light", the first song Sage composed for the album, was the first track to be released as a single and Rachael chose it to both open and close the album in two very different musical arrangements (one featuring Dar Williams on guest vocals). The second single, "Abby Would You Wait" explores the concept of absolute soul-mates and the overpowering understanding that sweeps its way through an instantly-connecting relationship.

"Haunted By You" was tracked with members of Sage’s touring band The Sequins, and also features guitarists James Mastro (Patti Smith), Mark Bosch (Ian Hunter) and Jack Petruzelli (Rufus Wainwright), as well as bassists Todd Sickafoose (Ani DiFranco) and Mike Visceglia (Suzanne Vega). Singer-songwriters Dar Williams and actor/director Joshua Leonard also make guest appearances.

Named in 2010 as one of the Top 100 Independent Artists Of The Past 15 Years by Performing Songwriter magazine, Sage is a self-taught pianist, producer and poet. On-stage, Sage weaves comedy and humor between musical interludes. Injecting unusual and often outrageous stage banter into her live performances has earned her a fervently loyal following. In the past, Rachael has shared the stage with Grammy® winners Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, Ani DiFranco, and Judy Collins, as well as Suzanne Vega, The Pretenders, The Weepies, Colin Hay and Semi Precious Weapons.

"Haunted By You" throws a beaming spotlight onto Rachael’s debut experiment with acoustic guitar composition and displays her talent for continually delving into new artistic terrain. Fans can also catch Sage streaming live from, as she delivers her much-anticipated TEDx Talk “The Power Of Chutzpah”, at 8:15pm London time (3:15pm Eastern)
