BLURT Magazine Premieres Rachael Sage
New Tour Dates Confirmed
BLURT Magazine has premiered Rachael Sage’s music video for ‘California’. The song has also been serviced to Triple A Radio, via her label MPress Records.
Last year songstress Rachael Sage released her finest album to date, Haunted By You, and one of the standout tracks was the dreamy, downcast “California.” (There was also a companion HBY acoustic EP well-worth seeking out.) Now we’re doubly pleased to have the video for that tune to show you:
The video for “California” was produced by actress/singer Apollonia, best known for her co-starring role in Prince’s “Purple Rain”. Conceived by notable hip-hop director Dabo Kadima in Paris, France, “California” was shot spontaneously, directly after Apollonia and the director attended Sage’s show at a nearby Parisian night club, where they saw her perform the song live. With exteriors near the Eiffel Tower – and interiors improvised in a hotel room amidst an intimate crew of only director, producer and artist – “California” is a lush, heartfelt visualization of one of Sage’s most vulnerable songs to date.
Incidentally, The 12th annual Independent Music Award (IMA) nominations are in, and Sage has grabbed four nominations this year: Best Pop EP (Invisible Light), Best Acoustic Song (Everything), Best Story Song (California) and Best Poster Design.

Sage earned a huge wave of A-list coverage for her campy, inspiring
‘Tchatchkes & Latkes!’ concert at Joe’s Pub last December. The Holiday
event, a Benefit for Hurricane Sandy Relief, was featured on Good Day NY (FOX-TV) with an interview and performance, via Time Out NY, with a print edition photo preview in their Holiday double-issue as well as a webbased Critic’s Pick, via NY-1 TV’s ‘Your Weekend Starts Now’ segment, in Next Magazine, GO Magazine, NY Times preview column and elsewhere.
Sage’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival one-woman shows, her Joe's Pub appearances, her acting background (she studied at The Actors Studio and The New York Shakespeare Lab at The Public Theater), all combine to create a singer-songwriter with a compelling stage presence.
